Monday, 21 October 2013: Motorists in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie can get free E10 fuel for one hour today at Woolworths Petrol in Belmont.

The free fuel hour will kick off on at 9.30am at Woolworths Petrol, 397 Pacific Highway, Belmont.

Garry Edwards MP, member for Swansea, and Nissan Motorsport V8 driver Todd Kelly will join representatives from Woolworths Petrol and fuel supplier Manildra to talk to the motoring public about the benefits of E10 fuel.

Woolworths Petrol National Operations Manager, Gavin Murphy, said E10 was a clean and viable alternative fuel for many motorists.

"E10's mixture of unleaded petrol and 10 per cent ethanol produces a high octane fuel ideally suited to most modern cars. Cleaner burning than pure unleaded, E10 is a safe and reliable fuel used extensively overseas.

"V8 Supercars made the switch to ethanol-blended fuels back in 2009 due to its performance capabilities, cost effectiveness, and positive impact on the environment. If V8 can make the switch, motorists across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie who haven't yet discovered the benefits of E10 should head down to Woolworths Petrol in Belmont for a trial run.

"The NSW Government is committed to promoting ethanol-blended petrol to motorists and encourage further take up of this clean and economical fuel.  At the 133 Woolworths Petrol sites across New South Wales that sell E10, we have information at the pump and in store to give customers a better understanding of the benefits of E10," said Murphy.
