BANGKOK - In keeping with an aggressive Asian expansion strategy, leading global communications agency Cohn & Wolfe has opened a new, wholly owned office in Bangkok. Doug Buemi, Vice Chairman and Regional Director of the firm's Asia Pacific region, will oversee the new operation, bringing in the agency's global and regional resources to serve local clients and identifying key local talent to lead and grow the agency's presence there.

The move builds on the agency's remarkable momentum in Asia - the firm now has 10 offices across the region and has enjoyed double-digit revenue growth in Southeast Asia for the past two years.

Thailand is part of Cohn & Wolfe's plan to offer full coverage across Southeast Asia in advance of the much-anticipated official formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The AEC will further unite the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) into a single, huge manufacturing and trading bloc that is home to 600 million people. By building a presence in Thailand, Cohn & Wolfe will leverage opportunities to work with clients prior to the launch of the AEC in late 2015.

"Thailand is a magnet for massive direct foreign investment and the headquarters for many international companies in the region," said Donna Imperato, Cohn & Wolfe CEO. "Our deep understanding of Asian business and unparalleled global expertise makes Cohn & Wolfe an indispensable partner for global and local brands looking to penetrate this market."

"The AEC is causing clients to think more and more about buying services across the whole region rather than cherry picking select markets. Therefore, we want to be the AEC experts, a single solution for clients seeking a regional entry point," said Buemi.
