Atkins engineer wins Engineering Professional of the Year award - 21 May 2015

Matt Browell-Hook, project manager in Atkins' oil and gas division based in Aberdeen, has won the Engineering Professional of the Year category at the Association for Consultancy & Engineering (ACE) 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards.

Matt said: "It was a real surprise to take home the trophy. I'm delighted to have won this award and it's a great recognition of the late life asset work we are doing in the field of Integrity Management. It is a privilege to be recognised by the industry in this way."

Since 1985 the ACE Awards have recognised best practice and excellence in engineering, and Matt was commended for his remarkable technical achievement in developing best practice in integrity management. His work has focused on examining how cost and efficiency savings around managing assets during a period of low oil prices can be passed on to the North Sea operators that Atkins work in partnership with.

Dr Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, chief executive of ACE, said: "I would like to congratulate everybody recognised for their achievements at the ACE Engineering Excellence Awards tonight. Once again the standard of entries was extremely high and dominated by engineering projects that showcased the ingenuity and innovation of UK engineering companies and the amazing inventiveness shown by their teams in delivering solutions to complex and ambitious projects. Tonight's theme was 'ACE - the future: be who you want to be' and all our winners are excellent ambassadors for the sector and all demonstrated exceptional team work."
