Atkins will discuss developments and recent work in the development of methods for strength assessment of offshore jacket structures subject to extreme storm loading, at the American Society for Mechanical Engineers 34th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE2015) in Canada at the beginning of June.

Mark Manzocchi, principal engineer in Atkins' oil and gas division, will present a paper on reliability-based assessment for fixed offshore steel jacket structures, alongside colleagues from BP. The paper outlines how this assessment can be applied to structures worldwide and could underpin the development of international standards for assessment of fixed offshore structures.

Mark said: 'OMAE has a strong reputation as a leading technical conference with a focus on in-depth technical exchange. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to present the work I have been doing with BP. The importance of this work lies in the development of a framework for assessment of offshore structures to consistent standards worldwide. I am eagerly looking forward to attending the high quality presentations and meeting other delegates to discuss the latest new and interesting developments that can help support our industry.'

The conference will take place in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada from May 31 - June 5, 2015. OMAE2015 will include 10 standard and two special symposia discussing a range of technical subjects from across the engineering industry, from structures, safety and reliability, to ice engineering and marine hydrodynamics.

Working in partnership with clients, Atkins is active in the full lifecycle of oil and gas facilities from early field development and FEED, through project delivery and assurance, and into operations, life extension and decommissioning.
