Senior members of Atkins' oil and gas business will take part in the 3rd Annual Structural Integrity Management Conference in Aberdeen from 6-7 November 2014. This year's event is based around the theme of ensuring assets are safe, reliable and of robust quality.
Philip May, structural technical authority (TA) for structural integrity management (SIM) will be presenting a paper entitled "Survey findings on gaps and issues regarding codes and standards for SIM" on the first day of the conference covering a review of the context of the UK SIM framework, an overview of the survey findings and a summary of main priorities for development of codes.
Demonstrating Atkins' technical expertise across a range of disciplines, the Atkins team will examine a number of the key issues relevant to safety, reliability and quality of the international oil and gas industry's assets, in a panel debate in the afternoon session.
Philip May, Sue Cresswell, structural TA (SIM), and Mark Manzocchi, technical expert structural reliability, will take part in a workshop session discussing issues around the interpretation and application of existing industry codes for assessment of offshore structures.
Alongside other industry figures from Shell, BP, Lloyds Register and the Health and Safety Executive, Atkins' experts will provide insight into understanding the gaps and issues in current codes through feedback from operators and service providers, as well as presenting an analysis of the key issues with case studies and debating codes for SIM.
