Atkins' renewables team will be exhibiting at the annual Global Offshore Wind event at ExCel London on 24-25 June 2015. The Atkins stand (Stand 161) will showcase how we are working with our clients and industry partners to drive down the cost of offshore wind and help secure a low carbon future.

Atkins is deeply integrated in the offshore wind market in northern Europe, having worked on a number of fixed and floating wind projects totalling over 10GW. Atkins is working in partnership with DONG Energy to offer a standardised approach to design and fabrication for offshore substations which will help to lower the cost of offshore wind, and with clients such as Statoil and SSE on the design of monopile and jacket foundations for wind turbine generators.

Atkins offers a number of specialist services to the offshore wind market including:

  • Offshore substation design (substructure and topsides)
  • Owner's engineer for the entire project lifecycle from concept design to the management of existing assets
  • Wind farm substructure concept studies and cost modelling
  • Wind turbine and met mast substructure design (concept and detailed design)
  • Monopile grouted connection and shear keys design reviews
  • Consents, planning and environmental assessment.

Atkins is also well positioned in offshore floating wind, including delivering the hull design for the innovative Principle Power WindFloat which uses a catenary mooring system, similar to many oil and gas designs, and can be fully assembled onshore and towed to its final destination.
