Sustainability is a multidimensional element integrated within all of our activities. Beyond environmental considerations, it encompasses health and safety, diversity and community well-being, which we consider alongside financial criteria when making business decisions. We are pleased to present WSP and Parsons Brinckerhoff's 2014 sustainability reports. As Parsons Brinckerhoff was acquired at the end of 2014, the performance data of our reports could not be merged. We are therefore presenting joined-up but distinct reports. We have maintained our commitment to report to Global Reporting Initiative standards for both parts of the report.

In 2015 our Future Ready programme, already implemented in the UK and other countries, will be rolled out worldwide. Future Ready aims to give all staff a consistent understanding of the future and inspire them to design all projects to this future as well as to current code. The program covers five areas: resources, climate change, environment, society and technology, and is integrated across all of our sectors.

"As a truly global organization, we are active in countries with very different sustainability infrastructures and contexts. Therefore a "one-size-fits-all" sustainability strategy would not deliver optimal performance," explains Lynne Ceeney, Global Head of Sustainability for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff. Our strategy will be championed and co-ordinated by a Global Sustainability Steering Group who will determine the issues that are important to us and our stakeholders, and set the firm's overall direction for the years ahead.

"We have taken strides to ensure sustainability is embedded in our operations and decision making. We will make the most of the internal expertise, enthusiasm and commitment from both firms in 2015, as we merge WSP and Parsons Brinckerhoff legacy approaches and bring together our sustainability programs," says Pierre Shoiry, President and CEO of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
