DENVER -Xcel Energy has earned membership again in two prominent international financial, corporate social responsibility indices.
The company has been named to the 2012-2013 Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America. The index tracks the performance of the top 20 percent of the 600 largest Canadian and U.S. companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index that are considered best in class for sustainability. The annual index assessment includes a review of more than 100 economic, environmental and social metrics.

We work closely with a number of stakeholders that represent diverse interests as we make important, long-term decisions."
This is the sixth year Xcel Energy has made the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America. The company is rated highly through the assessment for corporate governance, customer relationship management, climate strategy, environmental policy/management, scorecard/measurement system, managing water-related risks and stakeholder engagement.

In addition, Xcel Energy is one of 53 companies selected for the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index within the S&P 500. The index highlights companies that display a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change and is part of the Carbon Disclosure Project's annual S&P 500 report. According to the organization, inclusion on the index indicates good internal data management and understanding of climate-change related issues. The company has been included in the leadership index for five consecutive years. The Carbon Disclosure Project is a nonprofit organization that holds the world's largest database of climate-change and water information, representing 655 institutional investors with $78 trillion in assets.
