Regulatory News:

XIRING (Paris:ALXIR), a European security solutions provider for remote transactions, announces the commercial release of the "Xi-Plus 5" secure mobile terminal for healthcare professionals in Germany. This terminal has been certified compliant with the specifications of the Gematik1 and BSI2 authorities, in particular in terms of security, for which it has reached a Common Criteria certification level EAL3+. The terminal starts to ship this year.

The issuing of a new-generation health card to some 82 million Germans got underway at the end of 2008 in the context of Germany's paperless health insurance system evolution. This global migration policy brought with it a market for providing and renewing the mobile terminals used for in-home patient consultation and administrative processing by Germany's 310,000 healthcare professionals and 130,000 medical assistants.

XIRING entered the German market via a partnership signed with SCM Microsystems (announced on October 17, 2008). The complete solution created by this technological partnership recently obtained Common Criteria level EAL 3+ certification by Germany's Gematik and BSI authorities (covering design, development and manufacturing methods, as well as the actual terminal and embedded application). This certification offers further proof of both partners' know-how and of the mobile solution's inherent quality. This latest phase effectively authorizes the roll-out of the terminals in the field. XIRING's goal for 2009 is to deliver over 10,000 terminals on the German market.

The "Xi-Plus 5" is a secure smartcard terminal designed for health card applications used by mobile healthcare professionals. Fitted with 2 slots, one for the professional's card, the other for the patient's card, this solution integrates a high-performance, 32-bit microprocessor. Lightweight and compact, it was designed specifically for the needs of healthcare professionals called out to visit their patients at home. Once the practitioner returns to the office or surgery, he or she can connect the "Xi-Plus 5" to a PC via a USB port, then transfer the electronic medical claim forms filled out during the consultations and integrate them in the health insurance system.

Georges Liberman, XIRING's Chairman and CEO states: "XIRING is the leading provider of SESAM-Vitale solutions in France, and boasts the widest range of solutions designed for professionals working in the health sector. Our products are recognized for their quality, performance and user-friendliness. We have adapted our Xi-Plus 5 terminal to the specifications of Germany's health card scheme. Along with that of France, this market is one of the biggest in Europe, one in which we seek to hold a prominent position."
