-- Jeff Bezos has set July 5 as the date when he will step down as chief executive of Amazon.com Inc. and into the company's executive chairman role, according to a report by CNBC.

-- "We chose that date because it's sentimental for me, the day Amazon was incorporated in 1994, exactly 27 years ago," Mr. Bezos is quoted as saying at the company's annual general meeting.

-- As announced in February, Andy Jassy, currently the company's head of cloud-computing, will step into Mr. Bezos' role as CEO.
