FTSE 100 Seen Opening Lower as Traders React to Rising US Yields

0743 GMT - The FTSE 100 is expected to open lower following mixed trading in Asia and on Wall Street as higher U.S. Treasury yields hurt global tech stocks. Spreadbetting firm IG expects the London index to drop 16 points at the start of trading. "Rising yields will be a major story of the coming months of course as the Federal Reserve is preparing to end its quantitative easing purchases and hike rates," Swissquote Bank analyst Ipek Ozkardeskaya says. The Fed's latest meeting minutes should shed light on the central bank's plans, she says. The minutes will be published at 1900 GMT.(renae.dyer@wsj.com)
