Earnings season. Aetna, Allergan, Fiat, Chrysler, GE, Mastercard, Pfizer, Amgen, Facebook, Hyatt, and T-Mobile are among many companies reporting earnings. Expected data include Conference Board Consumer Confidence.

Volkswagen shines. The German manufacturer stuck to its profit goals for the year, as robust results from the Porsche luxury brand helped stem the fallout from trade tensions, a cooling Chinese market and new emission tests in Europe.

Gloom for BNP Paribas. The bond-trading gloom continues at BNP Paribas SA. France’s biggest lender joined Deutsche Bank AG in posting steep declines for fixed-income trading in the third quarter, complicating Chief Executive Officer Jean-Laurent Bonnafe’s plans to meet 2020 targets.

Insatiable. After Essar Steel, ArcelorMittal is looking at EPC Constructions in India, according to 'Mint'. A rumor that had already circulated in the markets.

The CEO of UBS goes shopping. UBS Group’s CEO Sergio Ermotti bought 13.1 million CHF of the bank's shares, or about 1 million shares.

14 billion for JC batteries? Johnson Controls is negotiating the sale of its batteries to Brookfield for $13-14 billion, according to Reuters. This LBO would allow the equipment manufacturer to refocus its resources.

Away from Kerosene. EasyJet hopes to use electric aircrafts by 2030, its general manager said. Until now, the date 2027 had been mentioned as part of the partnership with Wright.
