Natasha Boulding, CEO of Low Carbon Materials, says her startup is tackling climate change through materials innovation. It is particularly focused on reducing emissions from building materials and promoting the circular economy.

Natasha and her co-founders identified concrete as a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. So they decided to develop innovative alternatives for concrete and asphalt.

Their company has developed Austo, a carbon-negative aggregate for concrete, and Ackler, a similar material designed to decarbonise asphalt. According to the CEO, these alternative materials reduce carbon emissions in two ways: by permanently sequestering CO2 and by using materials that would otherwise be incinerated, thereby avoiding further emissions.

Low Carbon Materials recently completed a project in County Durham working with the County Council to meet its carbon reduction targets. This project has attracted increased interest from other local authorities.

She says her company is supported by the Earthshot Prize, an organisation founded by Prince William, which opens many doors for further innovation.

In conclusion, Natasha Boulding confirms Low Carbon Materials' ambition to become a world leader in low carbon materials.
