Inspections of U.S. corn exports rose last week and were also higher than a year ago, the Department of Agriculture said Monday.

The agency's weekly report said inspections of corn in the week ended March 14 totaled 1.24 million metric tons, up from 1.17 tons a week before and 1.22 tons a year ago.

Soybeans inspections totaled 686,181 tons last week and wheat inspections totaled 302,302 tons, both lower than in the previous week and compared to a year ago.

So far in this market year, cumulative corn inspections are higher than a year ago, while soybeans and wheat are lower.

Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. corn and wheat last week, while China was the leading soybeans destination.

Most-active corn futures are slightly lower after paring early losses. Soybeans fall 0.5% and wheat rises 1.3%.
