Advanced Inflight Alliance AG announces preliminary financial results for the first half year 2013

- Group revenues slightly increased to EUR 64.6 million
- EBITDA increases by 20 percent to EUR 9.7 million
- High financial income of EUR 6.5 million from financial investments
- Net profit at EUR 10.1 million more than quadrupled due to high financial income
- Adjustment of presentation of assets as of December 31, 2012
Munich, August 7, 2013 - Advanced Inflight Alliance AG releases its preliminary financial results for the first half year of 2013:
The consolidated Group revenues of Advanced Inflight Alliance Group did increase slightly from EUR 64.4 million in the first half year of 2012 to EUR 64.6 million in the first half year of 2013.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to EUR 9.7 million in the first half year of 2013 and therefore were 20 percent above the previous year's figure of EUR 8.1 million. The first half year of 2013 included one-time expenses associated with restructuring measures of EUR 0.3 million as well as reported positive foreign currency effects of EUR 19 thousand. At EUR 10 million, the EBITDA adjusted for one-time effects and reported foreign currency effects increased by around
18 percent on the previous year's adjusted EBITDA of EUR 8.5 million.
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) stood at EUR 6.9 million in the first half year of 2013 and therefore were 19 percent higher than the EBIT for the first half year of
2012 of EUR 5.8 million. The EBIT adjusted for one-time effects and reported foreign currency effects in the first half year of 2013 was EUR 7.2 million. This represents an
increase of 16 percent compared to the previous year's figure of EUR 6.2 million.
In the first half year of 2013 Advanced Inflight Alliance Group reported a finance income of EUR 6.5 million (first half year 2012: EUR 44 thousand). This finance income is mainly driven by book profits realized in context with AIA's investment in Row 44 Inc. respectively in Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. at a total of EUR 3.9 million as well as profits generated in course of the sale of the shares in GuestLogix Inc. of EUR 2.5 million.
The Advanced Inflight Alliance Group reported earnings before taxes (EBT) of EUR 12.9 million for the first half year of 2013. This represents more than a doubling compared to the previous year's EBT of EUR 5.2 million, which is predominately driven by the high finance income. The EBT adjusted for one-time effects, the finance income and for reported foreign currency effects in the first half year 2013 was EUR 6.7 million, which represents an increase of 22 percent compared to the previous year's figure of EUR 5.5 million.
The net profit for the first half year of 2013 at EUR 10.1 million was substantially up compared to the previous year's figure of EUR 2.4 million, due to the high financial income.

Amounting to EUR 0.42 in the first half year of 2013, earnings per share (EPS) in accordance with IFRS did substantially increase compared to the previous year's figure of EUR 0.14.
In course of the preparation of the interim Group accounts as of June 30, 2013, Advanced Inflight Alliance Group has evaluated warrants on Row 44 Inc. shares. These warrants were acquired in context with the acquisition of the interest in Row 44 Inc. in July 2012. In the consolidated Group accounts as of December 31, 2012 a separate evaluation was not executed. As a result of the evaluation of the warrants the presented equity as of December 31, 2012 increased from 82.8 million Euro to 83.7 million Euro.
