Ahli United Bank has appointed David Hodgkinson, as an independent director on the bank’s board of directors. Hodgkinson’s career spans more than 40 years of senior UK and global banking experience, mostly with the HSBC group where he held a number of very senior positions, culminating as the group managing director and chief operating officer 2006-2008. He has considerable direct exposure in the GCC/Mena region, having worked as chairman and chief executive of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (2003-2008) and as managing director of Saudi British Bank (SABB) from 1999-2003. Post HSBC, he was appointed as chairman Allied Irish Banks 2010-2014 to oversee its recapitalization and restructuring post the global financial crisis of 2008. Hodgkinson currently also serves on the Ahli United Bank (United Kingdom) board and the advisory panel of the EMEA Financial Services Advisory Practice of PWC. He is also the chairman of The Services Family Ltd.
