The Eutelsat 36D geostationary communications satellite, built by Airbus, has been shipped from Toulouse, France, to Sanford, Florida, USA, aboard an Airbus BelugaST (A300-600ST).

Its next stop is the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where it will be launched into orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9.

Eutelsat 36D is based on the latest-generation Eurostar Neo geostationary telecommunications satellite and will provide TV broadcasting (DTH) and government services over Africa, Europe and Eastern Europe.

Philippe Pham, Director of Telecommunications and Navigation Systems at Airbus, said: "Eutelsat 36D is the latest step in our long-standing partnership with Eutelsat, which spans more than 30 years. It is the 22nd geolocated satellite we are building for them, and will offer extended capacity over Africa and Eurasia'.
