Airbus has received an order of around $4.66 billion from Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways for 32 aircraft of the A320neo family, the companies said Friday.

The European plane maker said the agreement doubles Cathay's total orders for the A320neo Family to 64, of which 13 have already been delivered.

Cathay separately said it executed an option to purchase up to 32 aircraft under an agreement the two companies entered into in 2017, as it had indicated in August.

Swire Pacific and Air China, which together hold more than 50% of the voting rights of Cathay, have approved the deal, the Hong Kong flagship airline said.
