Allianz, the insurance giant, is considering diversifying further into alternative assets, while Pimco, its bond manager, is finding it difficult to attract new funds. Despite a slight upturn in the first quarter, Pimco recorded outflows of €75 billion last year due to a difficult year for bonds. Allianz CEO Oliver Bette acknowledged that investors remain cautious about the industry. However, he sees an opportunity in alternative assets such as real estate and private funds, which require active strategies and can therefore justify higher fees.
