Alstom has announced that it has been chosen by Le Mans Métropole to extend the existing Citadis streetcars.

The 34 32-meter-long Alstom tramsets, acquired successively in 2007, 2010 and 2013, will thus be extended to 44 meters, increasing passenger capacity by 85 passengers per tram.

The project will also make it possible, following a complete expertise of a tram, to modernize certain systems (video surveillance, tachometer control unit) and install new ones (lubrication and anti-drift systems).

' These energy-efficient Citadis trainsets will also provide improved comfort and operating conditions. We would like to thank Le Mans Métropole for its renewed confidence in our tramway solutions', said Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud, President of Alstom France.

Delivery of the first extended trainsets is scheduled for March 2026, with commercial service scheduled for the summer of the same year.
