UK factories run by Hitachi and Alstom, the firms contracted to build 54 trains for the HS2 rail line, face an uncertain future amid a lack of orders. Alstom said that it had "all but run out of time" to secure the future of its plant in Derby. Hitachi said they are looking for a "solution to the production gap".
