AMERICAN WATER WORKS COMPANY, INC. Punxsutawney, Pa. (March 25, 2024)-Pennsylvania American Water announced today that it will install approximately 2,900 feet of water main this spring in the Punxsutawney area to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents. These water main installation projects are the final stages of a $5.7 million project started in the Spring of 2023.
Starting March 27, Pennsylvania American Water contractors will install 1,500 feet of new water main along Greenhouse Road in Bell Township. Later this spring, the project will transition to Rikers and Williams Roads in Bell Township, where 1,400 feet of water main will be replaced.
Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the water main installation, including connecting all customer service lines to the new mains, and final restoration this summer.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and lower-than-normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
Statewide, Pennsylvania American Water invested approximately $688 million in 2023 alone to improve our water and wastewater treatment and pipeline systems, supporting more than 7,000 jobs through these continued investments.
