Avianca just started nonstop flights from Miami International Airport to Bucaramanga and Santa Marta, Colombia, for the first time. PASCAL PIGEYRE - MASTER FILMS This month airlines at Miami International Airport are adding, resuming or expanding direct flight service to seven destinations in France, Colombia, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Canada.

On Wednesday, discount airline French Bee will start a nonstop flight from Miami airport to Paris-Orly Airport three times a week - the first direct flight to that airport. One-way flights from Miami to Paris-Orly on the low-fare carrier will cost from $330 to $620 in December and January. Miami travelers can also fly to Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport on American Airlines and Air France.

For the first time in Miami airport history, Colombian airline Avianca began direct flights to Bucaramanga, Colombia, three times a week on Dec. 8 and to Santa Marta, Colombia, twice a week, on Dec. 10. Avianca also started on Dec. 8 a direct flight four times weekly to Pereira, where competitor American Airlines also flies direct from Miami. Colombia was Miami's busiest international market in 2019, before the pandemic.

With Avianca's new flights, there will be nonstop service from Miami to nine cities in Colombia. On Saturday, Brazilian airline GOL will restart its nonstop service to Manaus, Brazil, the largest city in the Amazon rainforest, giving Miami five direct flights to South America's largest country. Brazil was Miami's second-largest international market before the pandemic.

Also starting this weekend, Air Canada is going to fly a nonstop route from Miami to Vancouver three times a week. Miami International Airport has been leading the country in air travel resumption after pandemic lockdowns, consistently breaking its own monthly records in passenger traffic. With the new routes and flights in December, Miami will offer direct flights to 176 destinations, nine more than in December 2019.
