Romo Rouf Chowdhury has been elected as chairman of Bank Asia Ltd. in the 479th meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank held on 25 August 2022. Romo Rouf Chowdhury is one of the sponsor shareholders as well as sponsor directors of Bank Asia. Mr. Rouf Chowdhury completed his graduation in Engineering from Durham University, United Kingdom.

He has more than 30 years of experience as an industrialist. Currently, Romo Rouf Chowdhury holds the position of chairman of Rancon Group which has more than 30 subsidiaries.

The principal activities of the Bank are to provide all kinds of conventional and Islamic commercial banking services to its customers through its branches, Islamic windows, small and medium enterprise (SME) centers, and vibrant alternative delivery channels (automatic teller machine (ATM) booths, Mobile banking, internet banking) in Bangladesh. The Companyâs segments include Conventional Banking, Islamic Banking, Off-shore Banking, BankAsia Securities Limited, BA Exchange Company (UK) Limited and BA Express USA Inc. Its services include cash deposits, cash withdraw, cash transfer, inward foreign remittance, utility bill payment, social safety net cash payment, balance inquiry, account statement (mini), insurance premium collection, SME loan processing and others. The Bank has 135 branches, including four SME/Agri branches and four SME service centers, five Islamic Windows, 14 subbranches and 218 own ATM booths.
