Moscow, 23 May 2017. Otkritie Bank Visa and MasterCard holders can now use Android Pay. One of the key advantages of the system is that you don't have to have your banking card with you to make payments using the card.

From now on, clients holding Otkritie Bank Visa and MasterCard cards may, as some of the first users of the service in Russia, take advantage of another easy and convenient payment solution to make quick and secure payments via their mobile devices.

Android Pay is a contactless payment service enabling users to securely make purchases not only at terminals equipped with contactless readers, but also in applications which accept Android Pay. One of the advantages of Android Pay is that it is a universal solution and as such is not tied to a particular brand of device.

All transactions are highly secure; instead of personal and card details, a virtual account number is used. If the phone is lost or stolen, the user can change the password remotely, block the device or delete all personal data using Android's Find My Device function.

"More and more clients are keen to use mobile payment services. Given the wide use and flexibility of the Android operating system, we are confident that Android Pay will also be popular among our clients," commented Anton Safonov, Otkritie Bank's Head of Retail Products. "The great majority of our clients use Android devices, most of which are compatible with Android Pay. We are happy to offer our clients the opportunity to make their daily shopping easier, faster and more secure."
