CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE OF ČAČANSKA BANKA

By concluding the Agreement on Sale and Purchase of Shares of Čačanska banka on 20 March 2015, the Turkish Halkbank (Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş) became the owner of 139,680 shares and/or 76.74% of the share capital of Čačanska banka. Halkbank purchased shares of the four major shareholders of Čačanska banka: the Republic of Serbia, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Beogradska banka in bankruptcy.

After Halbanka paid the amount of EUR 10.1 million on 27 May 2015 it acquired the ownership of 76.75% of voting shares and officially became the majority owner of Čačanska banka - Notification of Significant Participation.

Short history of Čačanska banka - milestones
  • 1956 - the Bank is established under the name of Communal Bank for Čačak district
  • 1973 - merger with economic and financial organisations and the Bank operates under the name of Associated Belgrade Bank - Major Bank Čačak (Udružena beogradska banka - Osnovna banka Čačak)
  • 1991 - the Bank is organised as a joint-stock company and operates within a system of Belgrade Bank under the name Belgrade Bank - Čačanska banka a.d. Čačak (Beogradska banka - Čačanska banka a.d. Čačak)
  • 2000 - the Bank changes its name and operates under the existing name - Čačanska banka a.d. Čačak, as an independent legal entity
  • 2006 - the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development becomes a major shareholder of Čačanska banka with 25% share in share capital
  • 2010 - the International Finance Corporation becomes a shareholder of Čačanska banka with 20% share in capital
  • 2015 - Turkish Halkbank becomes a majority owner of Čačanska banka after purchasing 76.75% of voting shares. Halkbank was founded in 1933. It takes a prominent position in the Turkish banking sector - it is the sixth bank by total assets in Turkey, where they have business network of 886 branches with more than 15,000 employees
