Canon Inc. announced that Senior Managing Director Masaya Maeda will become new president in March, replacing Fujio Mitarai, who will retain his roles as chairman and chief executive officer. Mitarai became company president in 1995. His tenure saw Canon withdraw from its loss-making personal computer business and focus on digital cameras, leaving the firm in good standing worldwide.
