On May 4, 2015 (Makassar time), Indonesian President Joko Windodo held and witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of Takalar Coal Fired Power Station through remote video communication system.

Located in Punagaya, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, Takalar Coal Fired Power Station has an installed capacity of 200MWwith 33months work duration. The project is financed by Preferential Buyer's Credit of China Export and Import Bank.

President Joko Windodo addressed a speech in the ceremony. He elaborated the significance of infrastructure construction and encouraged investment in Indonesia taking advantage of Indonesia's huge shortage of power supply. At the scene of groundbreaking ceremony, the owner, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara,held the ceremonies consisting of corner casting, interaction with President and speech addressing, etc.

In the owner's speech, Takalar Coal Fired Power Station is expected to be completed on schedule and be a sample project. Officers of local government said the construction of this project would exert comprehensive effects i.e. increasing tax income, promoting employment, raising power supply and relative industries including steel and cement would be developed. Officer of CGGC on behalf of general contractor extended thanks to President Joko Windodo, the owner and other supporters for their help. The officer said CGGC is confident to successfully construct the project and turn over a high-quality project benefiting local people.
