At 8:00 p.m. Beijing time on May 31 and 9:00 a.m. Uruguay time on May 31, CMEC formally inked the EPC contract for Uruguay's 500kV Power Transmission and Transformation Ring Network Closed Project. The contract was signed on the cloud. Uruguayan ambassador to China Fernando Lugris and CMEC executive director, deputy Party secretary and president Fang Yanshui personally witnessed the signing ceremony in Beijing. Chinese ambassador to Uruguay Wang Gang, counselor Zhou Quan and counselor Jiang Minghui remotely attended the signing ceremony via video link.

This contract is of great significance for Chinese enterprises to further explore the Latin American infrastructure construction market. Ambassador Wang Gang and Ambassador Fernando Lugris spoke highly of the importance of the project to the relations between Uruguay and China and put forward specific suggestions on project implementation. They hoped that the project could serve as a milestone in the two countries' cooperation and set a good example for the implementation of the 'Belt and Road Initiative' in Latin America.

Before the signing ceremony, Fang Yanshui held video talks with Ambassador Wang Gang and face-to-face talks with Ambassador Fernando Lugris respectively. They exchanged in-depth views on and expressed full confidence in China-Uruguay cooperation in various fields in the future.

Also present at the signing ceremony and the above talks were Yin Zhixin, chairman of CMEC Uruguay Branch; Yang Lei and Yao Haixia, general manager and deputy general manager of the 6th Complete Plants Division; and representatives of domestic and overseas working teams.
