Vice Chairman of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the State Council's Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Xia Baolong visited the Northern Metropolis on the third day of his Hong Kong trip.

In the morning, Mr Xia, accompanied by Chief Executive John Lee, officiated at the opening ceremony of the National Security Education Day and delivered a keynote speech.

Joined by Mr Lee, Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn and Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung, Mr Xia received a briefing this afternoon at the City Gallery on the strategic objectives and progress of the Northern Metropolis and Kau Yi Chau Artificial Islands projects.

He then headed to the New Territories North for a site visit to the Northern Metropolis, where he viewed Shenzhen and the New Territories North New Town Development site from the top of the observation tower in the Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point.

Mr Xia also stopped by Wu Kau Tang Village in Sha Tau Kok to see the historic relics of Hong Kong's resistance against Japanese aggression and pay tribute to anti-Japanese aggression martyrs who defended the motherland.

This was followed by a visit to the New Territories Heung Yee Kuk for in-depth exchanges with its representatives.
