Vice Chairman of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the State Council's Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Xia Baolong arrived in Hong Kong today for his inspection visit.

Upon arrival, Mr Xia met Chief Executive John Lee.

He then had a meeting with the non-official members of the Executive Council to listen to their views.

This was followed by a session with senior Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government officials, during which Mr Xia was briefed on the Government's work and in-depth exchanges were made. The session was attended by department secretaries, deputy department secretaries as well as all bureau secretaries and permanent secretaries.

Meeting the media this evening, Mr Lee said the six-day inspection visit would allow Mr Xia to thoroughly learn about Hong Kong's situation, adding that the trip also demonstrates the central government attaches great importance to the city.

Mr Xia will continue his inspection visit tomorrow.
