School board receives $40,311 from Cleco's SCORE Program

PINEVILLE, La., Nov. 19, 2015 - Cleco awarded the Acadia Parish School Board (APSB) a rebate check in the amount of $40,311 for lighting retrofits throughout the school district.
APSB participated in Cleco's SCORE Program, which helps schools save energy and money by providing no-cost facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on energy savings.

'The high-efficiency lights that the school board implemented are estimated to save 403,112 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the average household energy usage of 26 homes on an annual basis,' said Richard Sharp, manager of resource planning. 'We realize budgets are spread thin and established the SCORE Program specifically to help our local schools save money on energy costs.'

In Acadia Parish, four school board facilities participated in the SCORE Program, which includes Ross Elementary, South Crowley Elementary, Crowley Middle School and the Acadia Parish School Board complex.

'By participating in Cleco's SCORE Program, we were able to retrofit our facilities with lighting upgrades that will bring us significant savings each year,' said John E. Bourque, superintendent. 'The incentive coupled with the annual savings will help the school board operate more efficiently from a financial and energy standpoint.'
