New part numbers with OE technology bring car parc coverage to nearly 100 percent including first to market parts for popular vehicles

Marketing support for warehouse distributors and garages helps educate consumers

Release Date: October 11, 2011

PARIS — Delphi Automotive is launching 36 new heating and air conditioning parts to the aftermarket, which brings its total car parc coverage close to 100 percent. This range extension includes compressors, radiators, charge air coolers and condensers.

Delphi currently supplies thermal OE technologies to all major global manufacturers vehicles, including systems for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Ferrari California and FF, Opel Meriva, Porsche Cayenne, as well as the Volkswagen Amarok (winner of the 2011 International Pickup Award) and Passat, Polo BlueMotion (awarded 2010 World Car of the Year).

"We pride ourselves on being first to market with many of our parts, as is the case with the new part numbers we are launching today," said Gaël Escribe, vice president, independent aftermarket, Delphi Product & Service Solutions (DPSS), Europe, Middle East and Africa. "It stems from our OE heritage as a proven supplier of OE heating and air conditioning systems. For example, we are ready to support our customers in Europe as they introduce R1234yf, the new low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, to the automotive market. Our new system is one of the industry's first applications and Delphi is uniquely prepared to help automakers smoothly make the transition."

The first to market products launched by Delphi include compressors for the Alfa Romeo Alfa Giulietta, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Qashquai, Opel Astra J Meriva, and Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Polo. Charge air coolers and radiators are now available for late model vehicles such as Peugeot 508, Opel Insignia and Astra and Chevrolet Cruze. The new range also includes radiators for Peugeot RCZ and 308 GTI and condensers for the popular Chevrolet Niva.

Included within these new part numbers are Delphi's latest OE Compact Variable Compressors (CVC), all manufactured and designed with the innovative variable displacement piston compressor technology provided to leading OEMs around the world. The CVC design is based on a swash plate, simple harmonic motion mechanism, offering increased fuel economy, optimum integration with vehicle powertrains, more fuel-efficient air conditioning load management, high-speed operation, and less noise and vibration than former designs.

"This range extension applies Delphi's extensive engineering capabilities and proven innovative technology in OE applications to the aftermarket," said Redouane Benhmida, global product line director, thermal systems, DPSS. "In order to provide 100 percent car parc coverage, we fit our OE compressors to a broader range of OE models allowing aftermarket customers access to our Tier 1 OE supplier heritage, technology and quality. This delivers an attractive alternative to current product offerings to the aftermarket."

Delphi will also provide promotional support for warehouse distributors and garages to help educate consumers on the importance of regular A/C maintenance. The marketing collateral includes posters, displays and literature highlighting crash, maintenance and repair information, and how Delphi is ready to support technicians year round with parts and services needed for such repairs.
