diaDexus, Inc. announced that E. Ralf Schoenbrunner, Ph.D. has been appointed to the position of senior vice president of research and early development. Dr. Schoenbrunner has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device and diagnostic field including executing multiple successful product development projects. Most recently, Dr. Schoenbrunner was the vice president of research and development, molecular diagnostics for Life Technologies Corporation, where he helped to build R&D capabilities for IVD diagnostics.

Dr. Schoenbrunner came to Life Technologies Corporation in 2010 as a key employee through the acquisition of AcroMetrix where he was the vice president of research and development. From 1992 to 2006, Dr. Schoenbrunner held various positions in the research department at Roche Diagnostics in Switzerland and Roche Molecular Systems Inc. in California, both world market leaders in diagnostics. Dr. Schoenbrunner was amongst others responsible for the development of a fully automated anti-HIV-1/2 assay and development of the first COBAS TaqMan HIV-1 Test.
