DIBS and Danske Bank further extend the cooperation on the mobile payment solution MobilePay. The service from now on enables Danish MobilePay users to pay using their mobile phones for online purchases. Up until now, MobilePay has been available as a peer-to-peer money transfer service and as a payment option in a selected number of brick and mortar stores.

The online extension of MobilePay is initially available in a number of selected online stores and the service will be offered to all Danish online stores as a payment method during 2014.

DIBS has contributed to developing the technical platform for the online extension.

We are happy to see the fantastic growth of MobilePay in terms of number of users and transactions. With this launch of a new mobile payment solution for e-commerce, we are taking part in changing the payment landscape in Denmark. Amongst our e-commerce clients, we have seen an increasing demand for mobile payment solutions and we have great confidence that this cooperation with Danske Bank will make payments easier for both the consumers and the online stores, says Eric Wallin, CEO, DIBS.

In less than a year we have seen more than 1.4 million consumers using MobilePay, and 1 200 brick and mortar stores have started to accept MobilePay as a payment method. We have also made it possible to use MobilePay when paying in apps and now we take the next step with the online extension. Now, all Danes will be able to use their mobile phones and MobilePay to pay across all different channels. This makes us a suitable banking partner for both retail and corporate clients in Denmark , says Mark Wraa-Hansen, Head of MobilePay, SVP, Danske Bank.
