April 18 (Reuters) - D.R. Horton posted a rise in quarterly profit on Thursday, as tight housing supply in the United States lifted home sales.

Net income for the largest U.S. homebuilder in the second quarter ended March rose to $1.2 billion, or $3.52 per share from $942.2 million, or $2.73 per share, a year earlier. (Reporting by Ananta Agarwal in Bengaluru; Editing by Shinjini Ganguli)
