Dyckerhoff Group sales decreased in the first quarter of 2013 caused by the harsh winter

Weather-related volume declines mainly in Western Europe - Outlook for fiscal year 2013 unchanged: Group sales at a similar level to 2012

Wiesbaden, May 3, 2013 - Although Dyckerhoff's volume already suffered a good deal from the harsh winter in the first quarter of last year, the impact of winter was felt even more strongly in 2013. Exceptions were Russia and the USA: In the USA volume remained almost stable, and in Russia volume increased in the first quarter 2013. Group sales decreased by 11% to EUR 256 million (Q1 2012: EUR 289 million), thereby, sales remained stable in the USA division, while they decreased in the Eastern Europe and Germany / Western Europe divisions.

Group EBITDA decreased by a total of EUR 9 million to EUR -9 million (Q1 2012: EUR 0 million), due to weather- related volume declines. This includes negative one-time effects of EUR 2 million. Adjusted for these effects, EBITDA fell by EUR 7 million. Depreciation and amortization decreased by EUR 2 million and EBIT dropped by EUR 7 million to EUR -40 million (Q1 2012: EUR -33 million). Net investment income improved, as did net interest as a result of lower interest expense. There was no change in other financial results. The result before income taxes therefore only fell by EUR 1 million to EUR -46 million (Q1 2012: EUR -45 million). The result after income taxes was EUR -35 million (Q1 2012: EUR -32 million), which corresponds to a decline of EUR 3 million.

"For 2013 as a whole, we continue expecting Group sales and EBITDA at a similar level to 2012", explains Wolfgang Bauer, CEO of Dyckerhoff AG. "This is based on the assumption that the weather-related volume decreases of the first quarter can be caught up. We expect sales and EBITDA for 2013 for the Dyckerhoff Group to remain at a similar level to 2012. Results before and after taxes will show a positive development as a result of the nonrecurrence of the extraordinary write-downs of 2012", Wolfgang Bauer adds.
