Eiffage announced on Friday that it had won a contract in a consortium with Poland's Budimex and Italy's Rizzani de Eccher for work on a rail project in Latvia.

The agreement covers civil engineering and track-laying for a 230-kilometer section of the new high-speed rail line
Rail Baltica.

This section is intended to integrate the Baltic States into the European rail network, with the creation of a link between Helsinki (Finland) and Warsaw (Poland).

The contract, which includes 175 engineering structures and 11 wildlife crossings, is valued at 3.7 billion euros.

The section won by the consortium will be designed for a speed of 249 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains.

Work is scheduled to start in the first half of 2024.
