Chris Peeters, top executive at the network operator Elias, becomes the new CEO of Bpost. The Belgian postal company itself announced this through a press release.

In the news: Peeters will be Bpost's new CEO for a six-year term. He will stop at Elia on Oct. 30.

  • He succeeds Dirk Tirez. The postal company's former CEO received his resignation nine months ago. Tampering with the now infamous newspaper contract ultimately prevented Tirez from remaining active at the top of Bpost.
    • Philippe Dartienne has so far assumed the role of interim CEO. He will retain that role within the company until Peeters starts at Bpost and thereafter he will continue to work as CEO of the E-Logistics North America and Eurasia business units.
  • It is now up to Peeters to solve the problems at Bpost. "Together with the Board of Directors, I am convinced that Chris fully meets the requirements of the profile and that with his experience, competences and vision he has solid assets to lead bpostgroup and meet the challenges of the future," said Audrey Hanard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bpost.
  • "I will take the lead in a sector that interests me greatly and is undergoing radical changes in a rapidly changing international context," Peeters echoed. "We will build on to strengthen Bpostgroup's position as a leading e-commerce logistics player in Belgium and the world."

Details: Peeters has been CEO of Elia since 2015.

  • Prior to joining Elia Group as CEO in 2015, Peeters led Schlumberger's consulting operations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Russia.
  • Before that, he worked for 14 years at McKinsey (7 of them as a partner), where he specialized in the energy sector.
  • In the first 10 years of his career, he founded an engineering and manufacturing company, and also served as sales and technical manager for part of Europe at Hoogovens Aluminium.
