Embassy Bancorp, Inc. Announces Demise of Elmer D. Gates, Co-Founder and Lead Director

Embassy Bancorp, Inc. announced that Co-Founder and Lead Director Elmer D. Gates passed away on December 14, 2015. Mr. Gates served as a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of company from its formation in 2008, and also of the Board of Directors of Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley, since its founding in 2001, until June 2009, at which time he was appointed Lead Director. A retired Fuller Company executive and long-time resident of the Lehigh Valley, Mr. Gates participated on the boards of such organizations as Skills USA Council, where he was Director Emeritus, Lehigh Valley Partnership, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, a DeSales University Trustee, and the U.S. Export-Import Bank Advisory Committee.
In 2012, he was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Executive Hall of Fame.
Embassy Bancorp, Inc. is a bank holding company. The Company's operating subsidiary is Embassy Bank for The Lehigh Valley (the Bank). The Company acts as an independent community financial services provider and offers banking and related financial services to individual, business, and government customers. The Company offers an array of commercial and retail financial services, including the taking of time, savings, and demand deposits; the making of commercial, consumer, residential mortgage, and home equity loans; and the providing of other financial services. The Company offers its retail customer base a product line of consumer loan services, including mortgage loans, first time home buyer mortgages, secured home equity loans, lines of credit, auto loans, and, to a much lesser extent, unsecured personal loans.
