Senior living community now accepting Medicare TEMPLE, Texas, December 10, 2014 - The Meridian, a Brookdale senior living managed community, is now able to accept Medicare, having recently been certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This offers another solution for seniors living in the Temple area as they seek exceptional care for post-hospital, short-term recoveries and extended stays.

"Families have counted on The Meridian for more than 30 years and we are pleased to expand what we can provide," said Executive Director Beverly Huntsman-Sims. "We have 24-hour nursing care and our own team of therapists to ensure that residents receive the high quality and specialized care they have come to expect from us as a senior living solutions provider." Community leadership recently made application to CMS and the state survey as part of the process showed that The Meridian meets all regulations and requirements to accept Medicare.

The Meridian's Health Center has recently undergone a renovation. It has been updated throughout the common areas and suites to include new flooring, paint, fixtures, furniture and flat screen televisions in every room.

The Meridian also offers independent living, personalized living and home health services in an apartment style setting on 21 acres that includes a large garden, greenhouse and wildflower field. The apartment homes have a variety of floor plans with walk-in closets and patios/balconies and the community also features a heated pool, game room, workout area, two therapy gyms and two hair salons. There is restaurant-style dining daily and a wide array of social, educational and cultural programs. The Meridian also has an onsite Scott & White Clinic serviced by Dr. Katya Maillard, The Meridian Health Center's medical director.
