Company shares tips for saving money through energy efficiency

MANCHESTER N.H. (May 9, 2017) - In a price forecast filed with New Hampshire state regulators, Eversource anticipates the company's Energy Service Charge will increase slightly in July. The company is not requesting a rate change at this time, but is forecasting an Energy Service Charge of 11.60 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) effective July 1st, compared to the current 11.17 cents/kWh. Although energy rates are increasing, customers can save money on their energy bill through efficiency measures that help to reduce a home's energy use and costs.

'We're reminding customers we offer a variety of energy efficiency programs that can help them save money year-round, along with convenient monthly payment options,' said Penni Conner, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer at Eversource.

Eversource's rate forecast will be updated with the most current numbers in a June filing with the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (NHPUC). The Eversource Energy Service Charge rate is calculated annually and adjusted every six months, based on the company's actual cost of producing or purchasing the energy it needs to serve its customers.

Customers in New Hampshire have the right to purchase energy from an independent supplier instead of their regulated utility. Eversource provides energy to those customers who have not chosen a supplier or who have been denied service by a supplier. A list of registered energy suppliers is available on the PUC website.

Eversource also offers a wide variety of energy efficiency programs that can help customers reduce their home's energy use and costs year-round. The company offers home energy efficiency improvements loans, seasonal energy saving tips, and customers can purchase discounted efficiency lighting products through NHSaves' online catalog. A number of payment options are also available, including Budget Billing and payment assistance.

Eversource (NYSE: ES) is New Hampshire's largest electric utility, serving more than 500,000 homes and businesses in 211 cities and towns and is proud to be recognized as the top contributor to United Way in New Hampshire. Recognized as the top U.S. utility for its energy efficiency programs by the sustainability advocacy organization Ceres, Eversource harnesses the commitment of its approximately 8,000 employees across three states to build a single, united company around the mission of safely delivering reliable energy and superior customer service.
