In Pittsfield, we're going to great heights to ensure our system is reliable and robust! Look-up - that's a specially trained lineworker balancing on the helicopter's skid that's no more than a few inches wide - 100 feet up - and tethered to the aircraft. We're installing about three miles of new fiber optic cable on dozens of new transmission towers between two of our substations separated by rough Western Mass terrain. The job is known as a "pull" and it's this lineworker's job to inspect the work up-close, and clip the lines in place once they're strung.
