April 2015

Spire Methley Park Hospital has been given approval from the board of Spire Healthcare plc for a multi-million pound investment to redevelop and refurbish the hospital.

The development will consist of a large two storey extension that will house a new outpatient department with pre-assessment department, consulting rooms, offices for administration staff and a physiotherapy department with private treatment areas and a gym.

Once the extension is completed, the ground floor of the existing wing will be completely refurbished to provide a full service theatre, JAG accredited endoscopy facility with a day care and ambulatory care unit attached.

The initial works to enable the project will begin in the next few weeks with completion expected in November 2016.

This is fantastic news for the hospital, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2014, and the investment is a reflection of the growth and success of the hospital and the team over the last few years.

Helen Atkinson, Hospital Director at Spire Methley Park Hospital says, "I am looking forward to leading the team through a challenging but exciting 18 months and providing the hospital with some fantastic facilities which will be of benefit to patients, consultants and staff."
