Ericsson and Swisscom announced on Friday that they have extended the strategic partnership they signed in 2015 for a further three years.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Swedish telecom equipment supplier will continue to provide hardware and software for the Swiss operator's network.

In a press release, the two partners explain that the aim is to evolve Swisscom's infrastructures towards an intelligent network thanks in particular to automation and AI.

This contract comes at a time when Swisscom has stated its ambition to improve the experience of its users over the next three years by further developing its mobile network.

The two partners are also committed to focusing on sustainability, with the aim of making the Swisscom mobile network one of the most efficient in the world in this area.

The network, already operated with 100% renewable energy today, is to be the subject of a new program aimed at reducing the energy consumption of mobile communication facilities.
