On a per-share basis, the Tempe, Arizona-based company said it had profit of $3.25.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 18 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.19 per share.

The largest U.S. solar company posted revenue of $1.16 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Nineteen analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.31 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $830.8 million, or $7.74 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.32 billion.

First Solar expects full-year earnings in the range of $13 to $14 per share, with revenue in the range of $4.4 billion to $4.6 billion.
