Focus Systems deemed an outstanding Family-Friendly Enterprise!

Platinum Kurumin certification!

Focus Systems (based in Shinagawa, Tokyo; President Keiichi Mori) has been awarded the coveted Platinum Kurumin certification in recognition of the company's generous family leave entitlements and other forms of support consistent with the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next- Generation Children.

At Focus Systems, we want each and every employee to feel safe and secure in their employment, and to enjoy a healthy work-life balance with plenty of family time, so that they can perform to the best of their ability. To this end, we ensure that working conditions and internal messaging are consistent with the company's Action Plan.

In April 2020, Focus Systems introduced a unique leave scheme called Papatoku, which is designed to encourage fathers to take family leave and other entitlements associated with childbirth. A simplified application process was also introduced to encourage take-up of the scheme. Since October 2022, we have been working to encourage male employees to become more involved in family life through a concerted campaign to boost awareness of family leave entitlements for men.

As a result of our efforts, the uptake of Papatoku and other family leave entitlements has been over 50% among male employees since 2020, while the uptake of family leave entitlements by female employees is 100%. Focus Systems is proud to champion flexible working arrangements such as flextime and working from home that give employees more freedom to balance their work and family commitments. It is this approach that has been acknowledged with our first ever Platinum Kurumin accreditation.

Platinum Kurumin, the highest Kurumin certification level, is awarded to companies that have outstanding employee support schemes in place.

As of February 28, 2023, Kurumin accreditation has been granted to 4,084 companies, including 540 at the Platinum Kurumin level.
