This Wednesday, Ricardo Quaresma participated in a primary awareness campaign promoted by the Instituto Português de Oncologia (Portuguese Institute of Oncology), for Euromelanoma Day, at the Clínica de Pele, Tecidos Moles e Osso, part of IPO-Porto. In front of an audience of young students from high school, the winger stated he is "always prepared" for this kind of campaign.

The Portuguese international star revealed he was pleased to be able to "bring joy" to the children and "help raise awareness for this kind of illness": "I'm always prepared for this, as I enjoy helping and being helped. Everyone disregards this matter sometimes and that's why it's good to be warned by the people who better understand this kind of situation".

Along with Ricardo Quaresma, surfer João Guedes also talked about his experience and shared the precautions he takes with his skin, as Doctor Matide Ribeiro, director of Serviço de Cirurgia Plástica as IPO-Porto, addressed the issue on preventing and diagnosing skin cancer: "Raising awareness among the young allows us to work on a future where the attitude to prevent it is more consolidated, and, as these youngsters become adults, they can spread that way of thinking".

Euromelanoma Day is an European campaign involving 29 countries, aiming at informing the population on skin cancer, its early diagnosis and treatment, which IPO-Porto joined once again. This campaign intended to clarify the main risks associated to exposure to the sun, means to prevent cutaneous cancer and how to perform a self-diagnosis, to help in protecting and warning the population in the Northern region of the country. About 120 attendants were submitted to skin analysis during the event.
