Pepe praised FC Porto's performance as a team after the victory in Guimarães (1-0)
This Sunday, FC Porto beat Vitória de Guimarães 1-0 at Estádio D. Afonso Henriques and kept the lead over the second in the table, Sporting, with six points. After matchday 29 of the championship, Pepe assured that the team will "continue to think match by match", while Mehdi Taremi regretted the missed penalty that could have given more comfort to the victory in Guimarães.
Pepe
"Mehdi Taremi doesn't have to apologise. At FC Porto, a goal comes from hard work. When we win, we all win. When we lose, we all lose. In the first-half, we had chances to go into the break with a better result, the 1-0 was too short, but we still started the second-half well. Obviously, with one more men on the pitch, we had to be calmer and mote patient with the ball. We didn't manage to keep the same rhythm for 90 minutes, but the work of the team was good. We suffered when we had to, as Vitória de Guimarães has great players and works really well. We'll keep thinking match by match, as the coach said. This match was important and the next one will be too. We need to show the spirit we had today, with solidarity between all of us. It doesn't matter who scores, what matters is the team and we are all to be congratulated."
Mehdi Taremi
"I was lucky enough to score the goal and I'm thrilled with the victory. I could have scored one more goal, I apologise for the penalty I missed. We hope to win the remaining matches to become champions."
