On April 29, 2024, Gildan Activewear Inc announced that it has received a shareholder proposal from BC General Employees? Union regarding board oversee and issue a report to shareholders, at reasonable cost and omitting proprietary information, assessing the effectiveness of the Company?s existing human rights risk infrastructure, in alignment with the Company?s human rights commitments, as it relates to (i) the failure to relocate workers following the closure of the San Miguel clothing factory, and (ii) employee health and safety. In addition, the Company urged shareholders to vote against the proposal at its annual general meeting of shareholders scheduled to be held on May 28, 2024.
